一架由阿拉伯聯合大公國杜拜（Dubai）飛往以色列特拉維夫（Tel Aviv）的杜拜航空（Flydubai）班機，30日傳駕駛艙喋血事件，導致客機在短短數分鐘內，從高空急墜近2萬呎（約6096公尺），班機最終轉降沙烏地阿拉伯塔布克機場（Tabuk Airport）。以色列國防部長卡茲（Israel Katz）稱該事件為一起「聖戰恐怖攻擊」，稱機師有意讓班機墜毀使所有人喪命，並讚揚機上的以色列乘客制服了飛行員。

報導指出，事件起因於駕駛艙內部的暴力衝突，副機師突然持刀攻擊正駕駛，導致正駕駛受傷並一度失去對飛機的控制。以色列媒體引述目擊乘客的說法，機艙內傳出陣陣尖叫，多名察覺異狀的乘客強行衝入駕駛艙協助制伏嫌犯，才成功阻止一場可能發生的空難慘劇。以色列安全官員透露：「該名機師試圖進行911式的攻擊：劫機或者讓飛機撞地墜毀。」
以色列第12頻道報導，行兇的副機長是阿曼人，被砍的機長是阿聯人。這與先前傳出機長是俄羅斯人、副機長是烏克蘭人的說法差異極大。報導指出，行兇的阿曼副機長正在遭受沙國問訊。另以色列第13頻道與第11頻道釋出的機上乘客影片也顯示，乘客認為這是一場恐怖攻擊，副機長企圖把飛機開去撞地墜毀，然後被機上乘客一同制服綁起來。
以色列媒體報導，這架波音737（Boeing 737）客機上有約150名以色列籍乘客。航班軌跡顯示，該客機在起飛2小時、仍處於沙烏地領空之際，突然在數分鐘內從3萬4000呎的高空，驟降至1萬5000呎，並多次出現劇烈的爬升與俯衝。機組先是發出代表機械故障或醫療緊急狀況的「7700」代碼，隨後迅速將代碼切換為代表劫機危機的「7500」，以色列戰機緊急升空因應。

杜拜航空發言人表示，30日由杜拜國際機場飛往以色列班古里昂機場的FZ 1073航班，「駕駛艙內發生了爭執事件」。飛機在「當時值班的杜拜航空機組人員成功控制下，改道並安全降落於塔布克機場」。所有乘客與機組員均平安無恙，公司已派遣2架班機至塔布克，以緩解乘客與機組員的心理壓力，該事件不影響其他定期航班。發言人也說「事件背後原因尚不清楚，仍須正式調查，請民眾不要過早猜測」。
以色列總理納坦雅胡（Benjamin Netanyahu）辦公室發布聲明指出，相關狀況已經「獲得控制」，正在全力協助以色列乘客返國。辦公室發言人史匹曼（Doron Spielman）告訴《路透》，據信該起事件並非劫機，而是一起「不同的事件」。

According to Israeli officials, shortly after entering Jordanian airspace, the Omani co-pilot stabbed the Emirati pilot and attempted to take control of the plane by force. The pilots are not from Russia and Ukraine, as initially believed. During the altercation, the pilot transmitted a general emergency signal and then another emergency signal that indicated possible hijacking, as the aircraft was diverted towards Saudi Arabia and plunged 14,000 feet (approximately 4,200 meters) in a single minute, before landing at Tabuk Airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia. Israeli passengers and the flight crew who heard the altercation coming from the cockpit managed to subdue the co-pilot, whose intent remains unknown at this stage. It is unclear what the pilot was attempting—whether to hijack the plane to Israel, crash it into the ground, or carry out a 9/11-style attack. What is clear is that he wanted to hijack the plane and that a major disaster was averted, an Israeli official said. The 150 Israeli passengers are currently waiting to be shuttled to Israel, as flydubai says it has sent an alternative plane. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz cancelled a visit to southern Israel and are holding security discussions.
